Thank you for sharing this interview! As a self-taught musician, I love reading about how intuition and instincts plays into the creative act. For me, it's a lot of intuition, sometimes too much, as I can feel a bit lost if I'm pushed out of my comfort zone! I've been learning piano lately, and it's pushed me to get a bit more technical and skills based in my practice. A blend of both is really a magical place to be.
I totally feel that! I went through a period last year where I wondered if I was being too loose, only developing intuition. Then I spent more time on developing piano skills and it was uncomfortable, still is, because I’m still pushing through being bad at a lot of the fundamentals.
Good stuff! Our "adult minds and bodies" can be the worst sometimes. They really do like to get in the way. So much of the journey is getting out of your own way.
I don't know how you met this woman but you hit the bulls eye. She said so many good things especially that quote about finding heroes in the people you meet.
